Students still have 10-11 weeks left of school, its 47 degrees, and we are only on chapter 24 of 36 of your AP World History textbook. But hey! A girl can dream... of being on the beach. Ahhhh, so relaxing. And then I snap back to reality and I look down at my agenda and groan. But I'm already looking at bathing suits and towels... With these items I'm ready to hit the beach.

Travel Size
In less than 4 days I'll be on one of three buses with 50 other band geeks travelling 16 hours down south to Disney World in Orlando, Florida. We've hunched over the lunch table circling and crossing out certain places six months in advanced and our anticipation has grown a ridiculous amount since then. But now the countdown is winding down and it's time to pack. Obviously there isn't a whole lot of room considering there are 150 marching band members so you have to fit a lot in a little space...Enter the ingenious travel size... Here are my essentials:

Nineteen Fifties
via |
I have way too many skirts to begin with, but I think I've found yet another style that I can justify adding to my collection: The full skirt
After watching a show about women in the 1950's in addition to rewatching Back to the Future, I can't help but desperately want to have the same sassy elegance that comes with a poofy full midi skirt. Aren't they darling? I can totally see myself in these with a crisp blouse or even a tee shirt

As charming as these midi skirts are, they seemed flat; they didn't puff out around the models' calves like I had envisioned. A little more digging on modcloth revealed that to get the look I so desperately desired, I needed a petticoat. Never before had I any desire to wear what I considered to be such an old fashioned garment, but the comparison was all the proof I needed.

Spring has Sprung
Just looking at this compilation of staple jewelry makes me pine for warmer weather. Unfortunately, snow continues to cover the ground and the temperature continues to range between freezing and below freezing. In the meantime, my mind seems to think it's spring: Coral, white, tortoise, and gold all compete in my brain for which one is my favorite and it shows in the jewelry I'm lusting after. The ones from forever 21 are all under $10 each (WHAT???) so I should be acquiring at least one of these pieces asap. Anyone else stocking up for spring already?

Morning Phase
Wow.
I have never listened to a single album so many times in a row without tiring of it.
When my dad introduced me to Beck a while back, we were listening to Sea Change in 5.1 surround sound and I thought it was weird at first. My dad put a few of Beck's albums on my ipod and I can now safely say that I'm obsessed. Sea change, Mellow Gold (Loser is a personal fave), Odelay, all favorites of mine. As a musician, I'm more attune to the quality of music. I appreciate the ability to play one or more instruments, meaningful lyrics, chord progressions that send shivers down my spine, etc. Beck is a true musician and it shows in his unique style of music.
When my dad and I saw that Beck had a new album being released on February 25th after a 6 year span of nothing, we freaked. The sample on amazon only made us more anxious and we pre-ordered the CD. That Tuesday, I scrambled excitedly to the mailbox after school and, lo and behold, the album had arrived in all of its glory. We listened later that night and I was blown away. It's very similar to Sea Change, but more upbeat and happy. Whereas Sea Change had depressing breakup lyrics, every song in Morning Phase is about the beginning of the day. It's a more serene and calming soundtrack but without being too slow and a few of his songs deviate from his normal style (Country Down has more of a country music feel). Overall, I highly suggest it. Like I said, these songs have not only been playing in my house at least twice a day, but, despite their slower pace, end up getting stuck in my head.
Call me a hippie/hipster all you want, It's an excellent album |

Inspiration from a Photo
Having a good eye is key to good fashion... and a good photo. New designs from the greatest brands take their inspiration from anything going on around them, especially nature. The different climates, terrrains, and live is so diverse the possibilities are endless. Here I've taken my own photo and used it to inspire an entire outfit. It's snowing outside but all I want is Spring. But in the mean time...
Tell me what you think!
xoxo,
Anastasia
