Splurge, Spend, Save

Can we talk about how expensive hunter boots are? Rubber boots with a label should not be $140 in any world. An absolute splurge in my book. At the same time, I love how cute they look on. They definitely made the cut for this year's Christmas list.
The joules come in at about $70. Still pretty pricey for boots that you can't use every day, but more reasonable than hunters for sure. I also love the prints they have available! The foxes? Too perfect. I've been obsessed with fox prints for a while now so these would be another great addition. They are the first runners up to hunters on my Christmas list.
Lastly, we have the most affordable boots, the coral target boots. I don't know if $40 is worth it, per se, but i definitely like the fact that they are $100 down from the hunter's and the only true differences i can see from this computer screen are the adjusting strap and the label.

In all honesty, i wouldn't actually want the target boots. I have eyes only for those hunters, but the pricetag gives my parents a heart attack. Why spend $140 on rubber boots for a 15-year-old?
So while shopping around, i hatched a fabulous plan:
step 1 is to buy plain rainboots
step 2 is to buy a vinyl monogram decal
and step 3 is to apply the decal to the rainboots.

Monogramed Black Gloss Rain Boots with Custom Bow
These etsy boots more or less sum up what i had in mind
Better than hunters? Maybe...they fulfill my addiction to monograms, my love of bows, and my need for rain boots all at once. Sounds like a winner to me!

Wish me luck!

  1. I love Hunters but I agree they are a splurge. I received a pair as a gift from my husband and I got my other pair on super sale at Nordstrom Rack one time. They have great sales on hunters out there, you just have to look for it!

    1. I love the rack! it usually has great deals...but i'm a size 10 in shoes and boots so the shoe selection isn't always the best...but thanks for the advice!

  2. After going through about 4 pairs of cheap boots I finally bought a pair of Hunters and I am totally happy with the decision. I have to walk a lot through snow and slush in them with my dog and they're super comfortable! Plus they seem to be holding up a lot better than the cheaper boots but I totally agree they're a splurge!

    1. Yea that's the impression that i'm getting: they're the best quality so it's worth it, but it's hard to suck it up and pay big bucks for them

  3. A place to keep an eye out for Hunters is also Ruelala, I absolutely love the look of Hunters and because I need wide-calf boots they are one of the only brands of rain boots I can find. An alternative to rain boots I am eyeballing is Bean Boots, but they are also pretty high up there, however, they could also do well in snow and slush. I love your idea for the monogram - I would worry about the monogram holding up but I'm sure if you order one that is designed for cars you would be fine. DSW always surprises me for cute boots too, and their rewards service is amazing.

  4. Yes, I could never imagine spending that much on Hunter boots--and honestly, I picked up a pair in the store, so I know: they're really heavy!! I think it would be a workout to walk around in them, they're so heavy! Inexpensive rain boots are more my type, and your idea for personalizing them is cute!

    1. Thanks! I'm glad others can see the ridiculous pricing a little label can make
