The American Pastime

I simply love the spirit that is present at a sports game. People who have never met are drawn together to root for a common cause: their team to win! Baseball is a special favorite of mine. It's known as the American pastime and I have been attending games for as long as I remember. The vibes there are wonderful. My family, sky, and I went to a game recently and I was in love with the variety of angles and lighting I was able to capture. These are some of my favorites.
I love baseball tees recently. The casual and messy and slouchy look of them somehow appeals to me. Almost challenging me to dress them up and bit. But even if i wear a baseball tee rather than a "summer reading" tee or a"dance for the cure" tee, it's almost more put together. The feel of them, frankly, reminds me of summer. Here are a few of my faves:

Nautical Take 2

I was looking back through the blog the other day and found this post. I noticed that this outfit i wore in September was a but shabby so i did some editing and voila: A brand new outfit, inspired by the original,  was born!

Tee: Gap, Scarf: American Eagle, Shorts: Gap, Belt: Target, Sandals: unknown (similar here)

I do have trouble with this tee...the blue seems to be tricky to match. The fit of the tee itself is semi boxy and the coloring is not common and too bright to be a neutral. this presents and challenge, obviously. This is one of the few times I've worn it and i think that it doesn't look half bad
That brings us to these shorts: last night, they were a pair of flare jeans. After noticing how short the jeans were on me (i'm a tall girl), I snipped the legs off to the exact length i wanted them and it cost me $0.00. Not a bad deal considering how expensive clothes are becoming.
I suggest looking through your jean collection and finding jeans that you don't adore the fit of. Take a pair of scissors and re-create them as you wish. It may seem weird but it works for me and i love these shorts...testimony, right there.
What is your opinion of cutoff denim (if done right)?

Distant Connections to Father's Day

movies we've been loving
My Dad has always been a great lover of media quality. All of our regular movies are replaced with blu-rays and now he collects them...almost like a hobby. He also loves music and has found a type of medium that is called DVD audio and are sort of like the blu-rays of CD's. I know, we're geeks.

The other thing he loves is popcorn. As they say, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, and       his homemade popcorn has made a special home on my favorite foods list. So for father's day,   we got him a not so ordinary present...a popcorn popper. The type they have in theaters. We spent our father's day watching james bond blu-rays and eating popcorn. Absolute perfection.
the gift: apologies for blurriness! This was taken with my Iphone so you know how that goes...
From watching so many movies, my dad knows what movies are pretty good, amazing, and       not so good. Here are some of the ones we have been enjoying lately. They aren't in any particular order, but i will say that Dick Tracy was my favorite.
Have you seen any or all of these?
Hope your Fathers, Husbands, Grandfathers, Uncles, etc... had a lovely Father's Day!

Hazy, Hot, and Humid

Today was a taste of summer for me: The air was humid to the point of being liquid and the 80-something degree weather doesn't exactly help. This kind of weather calls for a sundress!

Tee: Joe Fresh for JCPenny, Dress: Aeropostale, Belt: H&M, Necklace: Hawaii, Shoes: unknown (similar here)

I got this dress a year or so ago and now the eyelet lace trend is exploding. Trendsetter? I like to think so...
I really do love this dress...it's eyelet lace, not too short, and the color of the year: kelly green. What more could one ask for???
Enjoy your day!

My new favorite movie!
One of my many "masterpieces"...

This is usually a blog about clothes and as much as i wish i had a lot of other things to post about, i don't. However, this is my way of sharing with you things that i have been enjoying lately just in everyday life. As finals and the end of the school year approach, my free time will plummet and my stress levels will skyrocket. So for the next week or so, posting will be a bit sparse, just as a heads up. Thanks!

All-American

Dress: Forever 21, Belt: H&M, Necklace: Vintage, Sandals: unknown (similar here), Bandana used as a  Headband:  old (similar here)

Lately, i find myself incorporating red white and blue or just an american feel into my outfits. I mean, i hate how corrupt some things have become or are becoming, but i do love the US. We have such an inspiring history that people seem to forget and the ideals that we embody inspire me and make me proud of the country i live in. Some people go out of the country on vacation. I haven't ever done that because every year, i want to go somewhere like Williamsburg or Washington D.C (in addition to the beach...i always want to go to the beach) just to check out the history of our country and appreciate it. This Rosie the riveter-esque outfit was inspired by looking american and i think i did a pretty good job. Red, white, blue, denim all in one stylish ensemble. Looking american never looked so good ;)
