Clinging to Summer

Have I mentioned my aunt's farm before?
If not, you should know my aunt and uncle are organic farmers in rural Maryland. Every year, they invite their customers to picnic on their lawn and enjoy live music and the beautiful scenery. Anastasia's family joined us on Sunday evening for this year's event and we couldn't stop ourselves from documenting the most beautiful angles of the property.

Even though the chilly temperature was an indication of the impending fall/winter, we couldn't help going jacket-less and frolicking through the fields or sitting out on a picnic blanket eating watermelon. It was one of those final days of warm weather where you can pretend it's still summer.

What are you doing during these last days of summer?

What a Week

Buckle up, Ladies and Gents, because we're entering the busiest time of the year.
Because we're nearing spring break (rather rapidly), all of my teachers decided to bestow every essay, test, and project to be due on the same week. On top of all of that, I'm preparing for a state latin convention, a marching band performance (we have to remember music we last had memorized in November), and I joined stage crew...one week before opening night.
Needless to say, I've been rather busy. Balancing out my schedule has become quite challenging, but it's worth it. I love band, convention is super fun, and I've basically dedicated my life to theater for the next week. All I have to do is survive through these next two weeks...and I do mean survive...

Top&Boots: Forever 21, Jeans: American Eagle, Scarf: Banana Republic, Tote: Old Navy
I wore variations of this outfit throughout this weekend: to Saturday health class, 2 tech crew meetings, church, and a Sunday night dinner. It's comfy and majorly cute, but I'll sometimes swap out my booties for a pair of brown leather flats because, as much as I love them, 3 inch heels are not meant for standing for long periods of time.
What's your go-to outfit for crazy weeks?

Lovely

Too many hair-touching photos? Yea I thought so too...I'll work on it
Tee: Land's End, Pants: H&M, Bracelets: Kate Spade/Alex&Ani, Ring: Kate Spade, Shoes: Land's End, Headband: Target, Belt: H&M

Why I love stripes: It's the neutral of the pattern world. Stripes can be paired with nearly every solid color as well as nearly any other print. Especially if the stripes are black and white

Why I love pink: In the world of symbolism, it represents femininity, love, romance, and beauty. It's bright, it just so happens to be my favorite color, and it makes up 60% of my wardrobe.

Why I love eyeliner: I can finally get the wings to match (let me know if you want a how-to!!). Also it makes my eyes look huge and much more blue than they really are!

Why I love this outfit: It was casual and easy to wear while making me look like I actually put effort into my appearance that morning.

PS: Do any of you have any suggestions on taking pictures for outfit posts? It's chilly so I don't always want to go outside. When I do, I'm usually in my own backyard as I'm either at school or at home and the nearest attractive location is a good quarter of a mile away. In addition, my little brother who photographs for me only will help me out 20% of the time not to mention that my camera is ok, but far from professional. I need lighting, editing, and location suggestions! If you've got 'em, I wanna hear 'em!

Blazer & Baubles

blazer//tights//dress//earrings//boots (similar)//baubles (similar)
This was one of those outfits that I stayed up late coming up with. I have trouble going to bed unless I know what I'm wearing the next day because I know that if I don't, it'll be yoga pants and a marching band tee shirt.
This was also one of those outfits that was both comfortable and polished. Tights and dresses and blazers aren't usually associated with being comfortable but the tights kept me warm and the super soft jersey dress was like wearing pajamas. The combination of my heeled riding boots (the kind that click when I walk) and the shoulder-padded blazer made me feel like I could conquer the world.
What pieces make you feel like you can do anything?

Neutral

Top, Headband, Jeans, Boots
Quick story about this top: My lovely uncle got it for me for Christmas and as soon as I opened it up, I thought it was super cute and I'd be able to wear it with everything.
The first time I tried it on, I almost cried. It made my torso look so...big and boxy! If my body was naturally straight and skinny, this would be ok. But having the shape that I do, wearing a shirt that hid the smallest part of my waist seemed counterproductive.
Oh by the way, I was hormonal, wearing sweatpants, and it was 10 pm so it was safe to say I was in one of those moods to begin with so I don't know if I was in the best trying-on-clothes state of mind.
The next morning, I was scrambling to get ready for school and I couldn't think of an outfit for the life of me so I put on this top again with these jeggings and...it looked fine! It's supposed to be baggy! I actually really like it now and can't wait to wear it again!
Have you ever had a piece of clothing grew on you?
How do you feel about this sweatshirt?

Collar Poppin' Club

Disclaimer: This photo is the only photo in which my collar was popped

{Shirt: Ralph Lauren, Shorts: J.Crew Factory, Bow/Watch/Sandals: Local Boutique, Earrings: American Eagle}

I'm not sure if any of you have ever visited Baltimore during the summer (or Baltimore, period), but the combination of the heat and the humidity makes for a general uniform of tank tops and shorts (or more realistically: a swimsuit) in the month of August. This year in terms of weather has been extremely mild and I've even been able to wear long sleeves comfortably a few times (like in these pictures). I know I should appreciate tank tops and sundresses while I can, but there's something so adorably classic about a button down and shorts.
Is it mild enough for long sleeves where you live?

Tasseled

{Tee: Loft, Shorts: Jcrew, Bag: Gifted (Old Navy), Earrings: Gifted (Kohl's)}

When I saw this tote at first on Old Navy, I nearly passed out. The size, the color, the tassels: could there be a more perfect bag for $40? I'm glad my parents picked up on my not-so-subtle hints and gave it to me for my birthday because I've already started to use it for everything from being a bible camp teacher to toting my crap necessities to drivers ed. Can we also talk about these earrings? These were also gifts, but Anastasia gave them to me. They aren't something that I would pick out myself simply because they seem understated and I'm generally more of a post earring kinda gal, but I ended up loving them! Note to self: invest in more dangle-y earrings...
