Before Technicolor

I cannot help but be obsessed with black and white right now.
I love that the two colors work as neutrals whether they're separate or combined, not to mention they're super high contrast (which I love). Plus, when you throw in another color, especially a neon, the aesthetic elevates exponentially. Right now, I'm really into more geometric prints in black and white like those right angle pants, but I'm always a sucker for some classic dots or stripes (or both).
What's your favorite color combo?

Also, so glad there's a day to remember those who have fought and continue fighting for the freedom we enjoy. Happy Memorial Day!

So Ready For Spring

Spring is almost here, I promise. The piles of snow are swiftly diminishing and most days reach at least 50 degrees. All of this thawing that’s going on is making me excited for warmer days and spring break and with those daydreams comes what I plan on wearing during those warm days and spring break. I’m actually going to California for spring break, specifically Yosemite and San Francisco (don’t worry, they have In ‘N Out Burgers there), so I’m feeling a very boho yet colorful look, hence the embroidered kimono and peasant top. I’m also seriously obsessed with Ban.do’s flair packs (those adorable little buttons) and frankly, all things Ban.do. It’s this perfect little boutique that features all things cute. I mean, just look at their site:

I’m pretty sure all they do is make pretty GIFs and throw around confetti so…
What styles are you looking forward to this spring?

What a Week

Buckle up, Ladies and Gents, because we're entering the busiest time of the year.
Because we're nearing spring break (rather rapidly), all of my teachers decided to bestow every essay, test, and project to be due on the same week. On top of all of that, I'm preparing for a state latin convention, a marching band performance (we have to remember music we last had memorized in November), and I joined stage crew...one week before opening night.
Needless to say, I've been rather busy. Balancing out my schedule has become quite challenging, but it's worth it. I love band, convention is super fun, and I've basically dedicated my life to theater for the next week. All I have to do is survive through these next two weeks...and I do mean survive...

Top&Boots: Forever 21, Jeans: American Eagle, Scarf: Banana Republic, Tote: Old Navy
I wore variations of this outfit throughout this weekend: to Saturday health class, 2 tech crew meetings, church, and a Sunday night dinner. It's comfy and majorly cute, but I'll sometimes swap out my booties for a pair of brown leather flats because, as much as I love them, 3 inch heels are not meant for standing for long periods of time.
What's your go-to outfit for crazy weeks?

Lazy Days

Confession time: I dress "casually" about 85% of the time. And by casually, I mean oversized tees and running shorts.
Not exactly cute, but when you're up until midnight taking notes and enduring 12 hour days at school (welcome to marching band season), it's a necessity. I want to look cute, I really do, but most some days it just doesn't happen. This got me wondering if there was a way to look cute and preppy sans paint stained middle school shorts. I remembered seeing various giveaways from a magical site called Krass & Co that offered amazingly attractive running shorts. A pair of those, nice flip flops or cute sneakers, a stylish tee (plain ones, 5 for $20 at wet seal), and a thick headband to battle bed-head will keep you looking like you have your crap together even on days when you don't.

Back to School Checklist

What I'm looking forward to adding to my wardrobe just in time for the school year:

//For the Top Half//
Silk Cami: Wear it with skirts, pants, under a blazer, under a cardigan. This blouse is the perfect year-round wardrobe addition
Denim Jacket: Mine is a bit on the baggy side, so finding a sturdy new denim jacket to go with, oh, just about everything is in order

//Pants//
New Skinny Jeans: Mine are a size too large and never keep their shape. I need a pair to last through the  school day
Boyfriend Jeans: Slouchy perfection
White Jeans: I'm warming up to the whole white-jeans-year-round trend...labor day rule be darned
Trousers: This is more of a autumn wardrobe prep: not completely necessary but oh-so chic

//Kicks//
Leopard Flats: Leopard is the new black. Plus, I adore the pointy toe and d'orsay details
Red Flats: simple, solid, can go with whatever I need it to
Tan Flats: ditto
White Sneakers: While breaking the labor day rule on pants, I'm not so sure I could do the same with shoes. However, these sneakers would last me a good 3 days before they go into storage
Sneakers: I love the sporty chic look and these sneakers are too cute to pass up

Not over yet

I will admit, seeing all of the rich fabrics and deep colors makes me a bit excited for fall, but at the same time, I am SO not ready for summer to be over...
I'm not sure what summer has been like where you live, but Baltimore's weather has been beyond beautiful. Not to mention the adventures I've had with my friends and family making this the best summer to date in my opinion. After all the fun I've had, I''m not quite ready to go back to school...
As the summer winds down, stores start ordering and selling their fall inventory and summer clothes go on sale. This is the perfect excuse to shop for all of the pieces you'll need to finish out August and to get excited about for next year. Here's what I'm still looking at:

Not over yet
Shift dress / striped dress / polo dress / maxi dress / Jack Rogers / flip flops / heels / bangle / earrings / floppy hat

Are you wishing for an endless summer or are you already lusting for autumn

Lately

want need watch read
Want // Want // Need // Watch // Read // Read

Want: loving the idea of a delicately strappy sundress...I would be even more thrilled if the hem reached my knees

Need: I'm currently out of stationary on which to record my daily to-do lists

Watch: for those of you who are unfamiliar with Wes Anderson's work, I suggest becoming familiar ASAP. While some may find his movies odd and entirely confusing, I find them charming and hilarious and they often leave me thinking for days afterwards. This film was no exception.

Read: my friend, NSR, and I have decided to form a sort of book club between the two of us to motivate us to actually read the books we've been meaning to as well as to have a further excuse to get together. These are the first two picks.

The List

Summer Checklist

Silk Camisole: I love the idea of a plain tank top that breathes, is light and airy, and moves with me. Soft and smooth, utterly luxe, and super breezy. I will definitely be picking at least one up to wear with everything from a cute skirt to under a blazer.

Bohemian Blouse: As I mentioned in this post, I'm in love with this new top. The fabric is light and the top isn't too tight. The stitching and embroidery is impeccable. J.crew has officially made the perfect summer bohemian blouse for even the most devout of preps.

Baseball Cap: For the more casual days, to hide my hair. In general, to prevent sunburn.

Leather Tote Bag: This can serve as a beach bag, an adorable accessory, a carry-on for travel, the list goes on. In short, it's the most versatile bag a girl could want for only $40 (and it has a tassel!!)

Throw-On Sundress: Not that I need another dress, but the dresses I have always make me feel too dressed up when I put them on. I need a simple dress that's comfy and casual and can go from day to night.

Shift Dress: Does this even need explaination? A shift (namely seersucker) can be worn to any event over the course of the summer. This option from target is only $25.

Adorable Bikini: I bought this bikini and I adore it. It's more conservative and flattering than your average swimsuit and IT'S COVERED IN PINEAPPLES!!

Sun Hat: When I think of a floppy sun hat, I envision a lady dressed to the nines at the kentucky derby or Blair Eadie pairing one with a maxi dress. Either way, a floppy hat is the most fabulous way to protect yourself from the sun.

Jack Rogers: These sandals are completely versatile and the perfect neutral sandal for summer. They can dress an outfit up or down and are as comfy as a pair of flip flops. I'm hoping for a pair for my birthday!

What's on your list?

Vacation Shopping List

what's in your beach bag?
via

As of right now, my week off involves making the grueling 10 hour drive down to south carolina. All I care about is if it's warm and if there'll be a beach. Even thought there's an off chance that we'll end up going west and visiting some of the national parks, I can't help but dream about a mid-spring beach holiday.
However, if we do end up oceanside, I have a few pieces that may be necessary to pick up. You know, a new swimsuit or two, some colorful chino shorts, a floppy hat, and a few preppy accessories, the usual. These carefully curated pieces wouldn't just get me through a week in the Grand Strand, but most likely the whole summer. I've been pining after that blouse since forever and totally envision it with a colorful skirt or chino shorts (like those hot pink ones). I'm also excited to try out a high waisted bikini. I'm not quite in the shape I'd like to be in order to rock a bikini so hopefully one with a high waist will be cute yet forgiving (i mean just look at those pineapples!).

Lusting over Lavender

Lavender

Stud Earrings / Bow Stud earrings / Clutch  Chevron blouse / Ankle Strap Flats / belt / shirtdressLace Bodice dressJacket / Pleated dress / Green and Purple Flats / Black and Purple Flats / Polka Dot Pants  / Triangle Bracelet / dangle earrings / Pants / boat shoes /Cap Toe Heels / scarf / lace skirt / Blazer /  Textured Bangle

As the warm weather begins, the flowers bloom, and the days last longer, i find my mind dreaming of pastels. Blush, baby blue, mint, light yellow, light coral, and lavender are just a few of the colors taunting me and my wardrobe as of late. I have some sort of clothing in every color except lavender and that is the color that i'm dying over this year! I love that it's a shade of purple (for the raven's, naturally) and yet still so feminine and delicate. I'm really considering buying either the scarf, the plain pants, or the ankle strap flats. What's  your favorite springtime color?

Spring in my Step

Spring in my Step

      1 / 2 / 34 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 / 9 / 10 / 11

As i have been saying for quite a while, i am anxious to have the weather warm up and break out a new pair of strappy sandals! Rather than last year which harbored a very grecian style that was a flip flop of sorts, this year, a new preppy style that has no uncomfortable thong, but criss-crossed straps and an ankle buckle has made its way to the spotlight. I really am loving the difference as this is more my style and cannot wait to wear a pair of these with chino shorts and a button down or a super cute sundress.

Favorites: Old Navy Graphic Tees

old navy tees

Mickey Mouse Club Tee / Wonder Woman Tee / Campbell's Soup Tee / Beatles Tee

Another Line of Faves!!!
Old navy was more of a recent discovery for me as well. As a preteen, i was smitten with brands like hollister, abercrombie & fitch, aeropostale, and a little bit of American eagle. Those were the days of middle school where every girl and boy wore those brands and if you didn't, you were considered out of style. Old navy was not a store one wanted to shop at. However as my style began to develop, i walked in with my mom one day and my eyes were opened. I still never thought they would have interesting vintage-y graphic tees like these. Tees aren't usually my thing...too casual! But i have always had a soft spot for unique graphic shirts. Hence my love for these 4. My 2 favorites apart from the rest are the Campbell's soup tee and the Beatles's tee. I put 98 Beatles songs on my ipod yesterday and have had their music on all day...i can't seem to get enough of it all of a sudden! Not to mention the fabulous work of art of a Campbell's soup can by Andy Warhol...for some reason his art sticks out in my mind which is why I'm very excited about this tee. Enjoy!
