Adventure Packs

This summer, all of my friends seemed to be acquiring small backpacks that made carrying necessities much easier, and I loved the idea. Purses are not my jam...they're annoying to keep on my shoulder and lug around, but a backpack is small and compact and fits nicely on your back so that you can be hands-free.
These friends coined the term "adventure pack" to describe the bags' functionality when it came to, well, going on adventures!

I actually have #1 in a bright turquoise rather than a hot pink, and I love it. It's big enough to fit anything I might need, but looks a lot smaller than it is. If you're looking for a bigger backpack, 3,5, and 6 may do the trick. They're not adventure packs so much as they're bags you could use as overnight bags or book bags.
Which do you prefer: backpacks or purses?

Before Technicolor

I cannot help but be obsessed with black and white right now.
I love that the two colors work as neutrals whether they're separate or combined, not to mention they're super high contrast (which I love). Plus, when you throw in another color, especially a neon, the aesthetic elevates exponentially. Right now, I'm really into more geometric prints in black and white like those right angle pants, but I'm always a sucker for some classic dots or stripes (or both).
What's your favorite color combo?

Also, so glad there's a day to remember those who have fought and continue fighting for the freedom we enjoy. Happy Memorial Day!

So Ready For Spring

Spring is almost here, I promise. The piles of snow are swiftly diminishing and most days reach at least 50 degrees. All of this thawing that’s going on is making me excited for warmer days and spring break and with those daydreams comes what I plan on wearing during those warm days and spring break. I’m actually going to California for spring break, specifically Yosemite and San Francisco (don’t worry, they have In ‘N Out Burgers there), so I’m feeling a very boho yet colorful look, hence the embroidered kimono and peasant top. I’m also seriously obsessed with Ban.do’s flair packs (those adorable little buttons) and frankly, all things Ban.do. It’s this perfect little boutique that features all things cute. I mean, just look at their site:

I’m pretty sure all they do is make pretty GIFs and throw around confetti so…
What styles are you looking forward to this spring?

What a Week

Buckle up, Ladies and Gents, because we're entering the busiest time of the year.
Because we're nearing spring break (rather rapidly), all of my teachers decided to bestow every essay, test, and project to be due on the same week. On top of all of that, I'm preparing for a state latin convention, a marching band performance (we have to remember music we last had memorized in November), and I joined stage crew...one week before opening night.
Needless to say, I've been rather busy. Balancing out my schedule has become quite challenging, but it's worth it. I love band, convention is super fun, and I've basically dedicated my life to theater for the next week. All I have to do is survive through these next two weeks...and I do mean survive...

Top&Boots: Forever 21, Jeans: American Eagle, Scarf: Banana Republic, Tote: Old Navy
I wore variations of this outfit throughout this weekend: to Saturday health class, 2 tech crew meetings, church, and a Sunday night dinner. It's comfy and majorly cute, but I'll sometimes swap out my booties for a pair of brown leather flats because, as much as I love them, 3 inch heels are not meant for standing for long periods of time.
What's your go-to outfit for crazy weeks?

Spring Vibes

We have hit above 30 degrees! I repeat, we have hit above 30 degrees! This is not a drill! That is basically everyone right now. The snow is melting, winter jackets are hung up, and capris are coming out.
We are on the eve of warmer weather and brighter days. What better way to celebrate than browsing around for some spring picks?

Spring Wishlist
Red t shirt, / Topshop bib overall / H&M high waisted jeans, / Forever 21 striped socks / Forever 21 striped socks / Nike sneaker / H M pink purse, / Urban Outfitters leather watch / Long necklace / Fantas-Eyes fantas eyes sunglasses

First off: Mom jeans are back and its fabulous. I want a pair, but I'm hoping to find some that are a little more flattering on top like the ones pictured above. I am basically trying to rebuild my spring/summer wardrobe and I need to get back to the basics. Having quality and versatile pieces has become a priority in creating outfits. I've also embraced the pop culture/art trend that has produced some unique garments that can go casual or a little fancier with skater skirt. I'm also really loving the varsity look including crew socks, Converse (I like the Nike ones above, and tee-shirt dress which are comfortable and adorable. Hopefully I'll hit the shops soon and grab a few of these items just in time for the warm weather to hit.

Is there anything you've been loving lately? Anything you've already gotten in your shopping cart for spring?

Looks For Less: Ankle Boots

I honestly never thought that I could pull off ankle boots. I always imagined them as too edgy so in a way, the only thing preventing me from buying them was my own mental barrier. Once I found this pair at Old Navy, I realized there may be hope for me yet: classic booties exist! Rejoice, preppy friends!
Of course, once I saw the ones at old navy, I realized how badly I needed them. I came up with outfits upon outfits that would only work with the perfect booties. And, to make it worse,  my riding boots are out of commission for now (long story). So it seemed like a miracle when I went to Forever 21 and found the PERFECT pair for me and only for $30...perfect for my nearly nonexistent budget. Honestly though, I've been wearing these bad boys nonstop and they're holding up beautifully (a rare for Forever 21). It makes me question why you would pay so much for something so similar...

A Study in (Pale) Pink

Perhaps it's my longing for spring or my affinity for all things girly, but this ladylike hue has been totally catching my eye. I love how, as a color, it can almost act as both a neutral and a statement color. I also love how it looks feminine, but it's not as in-your-face as hot or neon pink. I'm especially loving how it looks with black and white, but let's be honest it looks fab with anything.

How do you feel about pale pink? Do you have any colors you're crushing on lately?

Vacation Shopping List

what's in your beach bag?
via

As of right now, my week off involves making the grueling 10 hour drive down to south carolina. All I care about is if it's warm and if there'll be a beach. Even thought there's an off chance that we'll end up going west and visiting some of the national parks, I can't help but dream about a mid-spring beach holiday.
However, if we do end up oceanside, I have a few pieces that may be necessary to pick up. You know, a new swimsuit or two, some colorful chino shorts, a floppy hat, and a few preppy accessories, the usual. These carefully curated pieces wouldn't just get me through a week in the Grand Strand, but most likely the whole summer. I've been pining after that blouse since forever and totally envision it with a colorful skirt or chino shorts (like those hot pink ones). I'm also excited to try out a high waisted bikini. I'm not quite in the shape I'd like to be in order to rock a bikini so hopefully one with a high waist will be cute yet forgiving (i mean just look at those pineapples!).

Spring has Sprung

Spring has Sprung

Just looking at this compilation of staple jewelry makes me pine for warmer weather. Unfortunately, snow continues to cover the ground and the temperature continues to range between freezing and below freezing. In the meantime, my mind seems to think it's spring: Coral, white, tortoise, and gold all compete in my brain for which one is my favorite and it shows in the jewelry I'm lusting after. The ones from forever 21 are all under $10 each (WHAT???) so I should be acquiring at least one of these pieces asap. Anyone else stocking up for spring already?

Lusting over Lavender

Lavender

As the warm weather begins, the flowers bloom, and the days last longer, i find my mind dreaming of pastels. Blush, baby blue, mint, light yellow, light coral, and lavender are just a few of the colors taunting me and my wardrobe as of late. I have some sort of clothing in every color except lavender and that is the color that i'm dying over this year! I love that it's a shade of purple (for the raven's, naturally) and yet still so feminine and delicate. I'm really considering buying either the scarf, the plain pants, or the ankle strap flats. What's  your favorite springtime color?

What to Wear n0.4: Valentine's Day Wishes

So because valentine's day consists of a marching band event in the morning and then coming home to pack up for my weekend vacation to rehobeth beach, you could say my day is pretty eventful, and it just proves that i will spend valentine's day with my friends and family...not with a special someone...i don't have one of those...
Anywho, because that special day is so busy, i thought that i would take some time to put together a little valentine's day "what to wear n0.4" and a special valentine's day wish to anyone reading from all of us at twirl. Love you guys!!
So for this what to wear, i wanted to use the romanticism and feminine quality of the day to my advantage. A lacy dress that has a flowy skirt and is tied off at the waist by a bow (belt). I incorporated the color and bows into the Tory Burch flats and added some baubley necklaces from baublebar (which i tried layering). Then a statement hairpiece and a cute clutch from ban.do and you are looking cute! Enjoy and Happy Valentine's Day!!!
