What to do if you don't have a Polaroid Camera

I had a bunch of selfies on my phone and on Facebook that I wanted to frame.
Unfortunately I'm too broke for 30 frames so what's a girl to do?
After sorting through Pinterest and a few faux T.Swizzle Polaroids that came with the 1989 album, I decided to make my own. Not completely authentic, but as close as you can get without shelling out $100 or so for an instant camera.

So without further ado...

  • Photograph
  • Model to measure off of (if you have it, I will provide measurements later)
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Printer Paper (or card-stock if you prefer)
  • Pencil and Eraser
  • Tape (not shown)

STEP 1:
Take measurements!
The background is --3.75" wide and--4.25" tall
The photo will be --3.5" wide and --3.5" tall

STEP 2:
Cut it up

STEP 3:
Measure the picture and mark where you'll be willing to cut. I have a hard time visualizing what the photo will look like after the cuts are made so I mark it up and then cut away little-by-little.

STEP 4:
Once you've cut the photo, tape it up and attach the photo to the white background. Make sure the photo is centered properly with space at the bottom for writing (in true Polaroid fashion)

STEP 5:
Write your caption and enjoy!

Here's what my full wall looks like (I'm pumped)

(in the context of my room...sorry the lighting sucks so terribly...I literally have 1 window so there's not a lot of natural light *single tear*)

Best of luck with your crafting!

  3. These actually look so real, so a great idea. I like how you've hung them across your wall on a string like that as well, I may have to do that with my Polaroids!

    1. Thanks, girl! I love polaroids but I wanted to display pictures I had already taken. Hopefully I'll get a real polaroid camera soon, but for now, this will be a huge help to me
