Fashion Books

Everyone one's been doing book reviews! So today I want to show you the best fashion and beauty books out there.                                                          

 

This book goes through all the different styles...from glam (shown above) to girly, classic to edgy. For each style it shows a week full of outfits, to go items and accessories. Some of the outfits are super cute and it's a definite fun to look at and apply.

While Seventeen Style is good for outfit ideas, this is more about finding your style. It has tricks to shopping online, how to layer, how to pattern, and what to pack on vacations. I find myself relying a bit more on this book when it comes to my own closet, and she also has some cute outfits that can easily be copied (for example the sweater above, jeans, and boots)

I think all girls should have this book. This is all about trying to make yourself look the best, through hair and makeup, but knowing how to not overdo it. She has great tricks for people with a monolid, freckles, curly hair, straight hair, getting your hair to be less frizzy, pretty much everyone. She shows you what to use to apply makeup and how to not overdo it. Sure the personal stories can get a bit annoying (like how many times do you have to mention you were on the TV show The Hills) but the tricks are flawless and can really help.

While this is more for middle age women, us youngsters can still get some fabu french advice. First off, if your going to Paris this book has a great list of french hotels, restaurants and shops. In fact I recently got a dress from one of the stores she mentioned, Souer, for a special event (while the shipping was a bear, the dress was amazing.) Plus she has good fashion-faux that we can all learn from and take to advice. Plus the outfit above (which was my favorite outfit from the book) is just so cute the way she mixes colors.

i know, i know
"Birdy, this is supposed to be your blogging day off so you can study and do whatever else you need!"
But i need to post this!!!

I am addicted to british television.
There are two shows i think all of you should see.

1)Sherlock...yea, the show elementary is a knockoff of? This one is WAY BETTER!!! Its got wonderful quality and the storyline are intricate and intriguing. The actors suit their roles just perfectly and it takes place in modern day London where it makes sense to have a British accent and Watson can be a man, like usual. Anyways, for those who haven't seen that, Sherlock (or Sherlock holmes if that clears anything up...) is about an ingenious detective and his army war doctor veteran crime busting partner and various puzzles to solve, lives to save, and mad men to defeat. But you HAVE to pay attention because it is SO fast paced. Great though!

the 3rd season is being filmed in January of 2013 and the 2 main characters will be in the Hobbit (which i am so excited to see...)
So keep an eye out for that, but for now i suggsest catching up on the other seasons by finding them or buying them (i have them on bluray :) )

2)Downton Abbey
Now the way i describe this may make it seem boring but i'll try and bear in mind how awesome it is.
So this takes place in the home or a Lord and Lady in WW I England and they live in a great big mansion and have 3 daughters and are happy...right? WRONG! All sorts of things like inheritance get in their way. They have to find a new heir and marry off all three of their daughters, and maintain the household and fight in the war all at once! Not to mention the plethora of servants, maids, butlers, and cooks down below! they help run the household and that is their top priority. But they also have many obstacles as their employers upstairs!  And in in the downton abbey servant community, everyone is replaceable.

The 3rd season is now available on dvd (or bluray :) ) and it's on its way to me right now! (yay)
So just like sherlock, i suggest catching up, but overall, the plot is awesome, the actors are perfect (professor McGonnogall is in it, fyi!), and the scenery is unbelievably beautiful. WATCH IT!!!

So for inspiration tuesday, our base is a navy sweater and khakis!! I know, plain, right? But our focus is to give everyone a chance to see that something that most people have in their closets, and seems drab, can be totally fab!

I must be addicted to baublebar because their jewels are the main focus of the outfit AGAIN!!! The necklace was a super cool color, but it was super hard to work with. Thankfully, i found a bracelet with other colors so it would all balance out...i love how feminine this is! I know there's a lot of that turquoise color, but it's in smaller doses so i think it works. Tell me what you think! Hope you like this week's outfit!

This definitely seems a bit matchy matchy but it works out really well. I call this classic country. The boots create a cute rustic feel to the outfit, and the belt (to be worn at the waist) creates a cute country classic vibe too. I don't know why, but the second I saw this inspiration I immediately thought of an owl necklace. This necklace is perfect, the amber orange pops against the navy and the rope cord matches the boots plus belt.

Total Prep-- Sweater and Khakis

Heyy guys!!!!

               I don't go to a private school where you have to wear blue and beige but for fun I put together an outfit. Preppy clothing isn't my style at all so I took the sweater and khaki outfit and twisted it into a chic outfit with a sprinkle of private school prep. :)








This adorable sweater has little animals on it so it has a interesting design. I loved this sweater and I almost bought it in the store but of course they didn't have my size.... :(

A simple shoe from Target!!!! for only $14.99!!!!!!



 This whole outfit could be dressed up with little wedges and gold bracelets or dressed down with just a pair if jeans and a simple gold head band! Also, these separates can go with so much that you can get a lot for your money.

Even though my style is NOT preppy, I adore this outfit and would totally wear it!!!! And if you are preppy-- I hope you like this too!!!!

Limited addition!

Happy monday everyone! Hope your weekend was absolutely wonderful!! I'm actually still enjoying mine and will be until wednesday morning when i have to go back...

So this picture was taken in the forest behind my home. We've (We being my brother and i) been taking walks with our dogs (they explore OFF LEASH) and they love it, it's good for us, and it's fun just to explore and see how pretty it is. We went yesterday, (buster couldn't go because he had just gotten his cast off but bear went) and it was kind of overcast, but i saw the interesting lighting as a good source for pictures so i took the camera and ended up with this one.
I took a bunch more  but i'm saving those up :)

My user has been locked until 3pm-7pm every day from now on to keep me off the computer...because that's like all i've been doing lately so posts will come later in the day unless i can figure out the whole write it in advance and set it at a post time...which may happen, but let's be serious, i can barely figure out how to hyperlink stuff...

Vans Shoes, Shirts, and Dresses, Oh my!!

 

So I'm a HUGE Vans fan..... I own 4 pairs and i love them all..... I'll show you three of the four I have so I hope you enjoy :) YAY VANS!!!!

The necklace is from Vans too but I couldn't find a close up, sorry. Simply jewelry can compliment the outfit but too much will take way from its beauty.
